We know that caring for a child can be challenging, which is why you will be paired with a qualified and experienced fostering social worker.

You'll also have regular contact with the child's social worker, who will know their background and needs.

Emergency support, 24/7

We know that being a foster carer is a 24/7 commitment.

Our out-of-hours service offers round-the-clock support, ensuring you have access to professionals whenever you need them.

Placement Support Hub

Through our in-house Placement Support Hub, we offer tailored support for looked after children that meets their exact needs. Our friendly Child and Family Workers will speak to the child and work with carers to provide the best individual support possible for each child and family.

This service is accessible through our Child and Family workers who will assess each case individually and work with the foster carers and families directly to provide the most suitable care.

‘Life Story Work'

We offer unique Therapeutic Life Story Work, where looked after children can share their experiences to create their life story, helping to support their emotional well-being and strengthen relationships with their foster families.

This key support service is organised by our team of seven trained professionals, who will help the child understand their past and heal from trauma. A child can be referred to start Life Story Work by their social worker.

A foster carer can also request this support through their social worker. We are one of the first local authorities to dedicate a team for Life Story Work as part of our support.

Individualised support

We offer foster families individualised support with life’s big transitions, such as support for birth children to help them understand a specific child’s needs or how to cope when children move on and create plans for changes such as adoption, long-term fostering, or leaving care.

We support children directly with emotional literacy, regulation and processing emotions.

We also support our carers with more in-depth advice, such as therapeutic support.
